This Rental Policy governs all gear rentals made through Summit Yak. By placing a rental order, you agree to the terms outlined below.
1. Rental Overview
Summit Yak offers high quality adventure gear on rent for trekking, mountaineering, and other outdoor activities. All rentals are subject to gear availability, inspection standards, and confirmation of delivery logistics.
2. Rental Duration
Rental duration is calculated based on the dates selected at the time of booking. For certain treks, especially partner treks, buffer days before and after the trek may be included to account for travel and logistics. The exact rental duration applicable to your order will be communicated during booking or confirmation. Late returns beyond the agreed rental period may attract additional charges.
3. Booking and Availability
All rentals are confirmed only after successful payment. Summit Yak reserves the right to cancel or modify a booking if the selected gear does not meet quality or safety standards at the time of dispatch. In case of unavailability of selected gear, the Summit Yak team will contact you to advise the same.
4. Delivery and Pickup
Gear may be delivered to the customer’s home city or to select trek starting points or base locations. Courier or pickup charges apply and depend on location, weight, and delivery method. Delivery timelines may be affected by courier delays, weather conditions, or regional accessibility. Courier charges will be borne by customers and the exact amount shall be advised once the goods are dispatched. Summit Yak is not responsible for delays caused by third party logistics providers or unforeseen circumstances.
5. Security Deposit
Most rental items require a refundable security deposit. The deposit amount varies by product and is clearly mentioned on the product page. The deposit is refunded after the gear is returned and successfully inspected. Refund timelines may vary depending on inspection and payment method.
6. Gear Condition and Usage
Acceptable Use
Gear must be used only for its intended purpose. Normal wear and tear from regular outdoor use is acceptable.
Not Acceptable
Intentional damage, misuse or modification, sub leasing or lending the gear to others, and use outside the agreed rental period are not allowed. Customers are advised not to wash, repair, or alter the gear unless explicitly instructed by Summit Yak.
7. Damage, Loss and Theft
All rented gear is inspected upon return. In case of damage beyond normal wear and tear, repair or replacement costs may be deducted from the security deposit. Loss or theft of rented gear may result in full deduction of the security deposit or additional recovery charges, depending on the item. Summit Yak’s assessment after inspection will be considered final.
8. Hygiene and Cleaning
Summit Yak handles all post rental cleaning and sanitisation. Customers should return gear in usable condition without attempting self cleaning unless advised otherwise.
9. Cancellations and Changes
Cancellation and modification terms are governed by the Refund and Cancellation Policy. Changes to rental dates are subject to gear availability and must be communicated as early as possible.
10. Safety and Responsibility
Outdoor activities carry inherent risks. Summit Yak does not provide instruction or training with rented gear and is not responsible for injuries, accidents, or outcomes during use. Customers are responsible for ensuring they are physically and technically capable of using the rented equipment.
11. Right to Refuse Service
Summit Yak reserves the right to refuse rentals, cancel bookings, or decline future rentals if policies are violated or if issuing gear may compromise safety or quality standards.
12. CB Partner Rentals
Participants booking through contracted partner companies may be eligible for extended rental durations, trek specific gear kits, and flexible delivery arrangements. These benefits apply only to verified partner participants.
13. Policy Updates
Summit Yak may update this Rental Policy from time to time. The version available on the website at the time of booking will apply.
