Gear Rentals

How does gear rental work?
Choose your gear, select rental dates, and place your order. We deliver the gear to your home city or trek starting point. After your trek, return the gear as instructed.

How are rental days calculated?
Rental duration is calculated based on the dates you select. For many treks, especially partner treks, buffer days before and after the trek are included to account for logistics and travel time.

Is there a maximum rental period?
Yes, items have a maximum rental duration up to 60 days and no further.

Can I rent a single item or do I need to take a full kit?
You can rent single items or multiple items. There is no restriction. Complete trek kits are optional and offered for convenience.

Delivery and Returns

Where do you deliver?
We deliver to most major cities across India. We also deliver directly to select trek starting points or base locations. Delivery options can be discussed under Contact Us in case of any confusion or queries.

Who bears courier charges?
Courier charges are applicable and depend on the delivery location, size and weight of the gear, and pickup and drop method. Courier charges are borne by customers and exact charges are communicated post the booking.

How do I return the gear?
Return instructions are shared with every order. Returns are usually done via courier or arranged pickup, depending on location. Courier charges are borne by customers.

What if my trek dates change?
If your trek dates change, inform us as early as possible. We will try to adjust the rental dates subject to gear availability.

Hygiene and Quality

How is the gear cleaned?
All gear is thoroughly cleaned and sanitised after every use. It is dried and stored properly. Each item is inspected before dispatch. We do not issue any item that does not meet our hygiene and performance standards.

Is the gear safe to use?
Yes. Every item is inspected before dispatch. Any gear that shows signs of excessive wear or reduced performance is removed from circulation.

Pricing and Security Deposit

Is there a security deposit?
Yes. Most rental items require a refundable security deposit, which varies by product.

When is the deposit refunded?
The deposit is refunded after the gear is returned and inspected. Refund timelines may vary depending on inspection and payment method.

What if the gear gets damaged?
Normal wear and tear is acceptable. Any significant damage or loss may result in partial or full deduction from the security deposit, depending on the extent of damage.

CB Partners (Contracted Business Partners)

What are CB Partner benefits?
If you are trekking with one of our contracted partner companies, you may receive extended rental durations, trek specific bundled kits, and flexible delivery options.

How do I know if I am eligible for CB Partner benefits?
You are eligible if you are a registered participant with a CB Partner and your booking is verified through the partner or reference. You can also contact us to confirm eligibility.

Gear Selection

Can you help me choose the right gear?
Yes. Our team can help you select gear based on trek location, season and weather, and trek duration and difficulty. We recommend reaching out if you are unsure.

Are sizes guaranteed to fit perfectly?
We provide size guides and recommendations, but fit can vary by brand and individual preference. We encourage early booking to allow adjustments if needed.

Merchandise and Purchases

Do you sell gear as well?
Yes. Summit Yak offers selected merchandise under its own label and through trusted partner brands. Availability will expand over time.

Can I buy gear after renting it?
In some cases, yes. Please contact us to check availability and applicable offers.
